A professional type design critique for you
→ When you design a typeface there comes a point when you know there is something wrong but you are just not quite sure what it is, how to fix it or even where to begin…This is where a second pair of eyes comes in handy, preferably provided by an experienced designer, someone who has done this kind of critique a couple of hundred times. The idea is to provide some feedback that will give you an overview of your project’s state and that will put you right back to work in a very pragmatic, hands-on fashion.
A professional development resourceIn the course of the past ten years I have had the pleasure of teaching type design at different schools and universities like the Type@Cooper program at the Cooper Union in New York City and the SfG, Schule für Gestaltung in Basel, Switzerland. You can read more about me here. Now I am offering my critique as a service to you.
What will you get for your money? For € 200.— (student rate € 150.—) per font file I will review your type design project (in English, Dutch or German language) and provide you with directions to take it to the finish line. I will mark up a proof sheet, provided by you in PDF format, showing every individual glyph in large scale as well as text in different sizes.
You will also receive a written critique, addressing conceptual aspects like contrast and construction, width, weight, proportions, spacing, typographic color, stylistic aim and design consistency inside each single style submitted as well as between different styles of a family of typefaces as it applies.
If you think this might be of interest to you and you would like to talk it over, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me…
